About Lalat Pattanaik

With an educational background in finance and international economics, Lalat Pattanaik has spent the majority of his 27-year plus career, leading privately owned financial consulting firms which advise ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) families on complex matters related to wealth preservation. Using his broad knowledge of insurance and finance and adopting a multi-disciplinary approach with a client’s existing advisors, Lalat has helped many families develop an estate planning roadmap. Lalat Pattanaik’s expertise within the life insurance industry and his command of premium finance strategies as well as his strong, well established relationships with key premium financing lenders, are often instrumental in enhancing a family’s legacy planning objectives.

Before he became an industry expert in utilizing premium finance strategies to enhance planning for UHNW families, Lalat Pattanaik worked as a financial analyst at IDS American, where he performed hedging, financial planning, and portfolio analysis. After being recruited as a management trainee at Northern Trust, he became part of a team that evaluated and developed customized strategic investment strategies involving indexed portfolios and derivative hedging instruments for the firm’s high-net-worth clients, pension funds, and others. He then turned his focus to a consulting practice and led IPS Private Advisors as president for over 14 years, providing estate and financial planning services to entrepreneurs, entertainment, and multi-family office clients.

In 2010, Mr. Pattanaik founded Apheta Business Management, a multi-family office where he offers advisory and insurance consulting services to UHNW families and professionals. He co-founded another advisory firm, PH Robb Legacy Alliance, which provides similar technical planning resources to institutional clients (major banks, trust companies, insurers, law firms, and accounting practices) on a national basis. These resources include legacy planning, product consulting, as well as the use of tax and legal planning strategies. Lalat Pattanaik has also served on the product development boards of several global insurance organizations.
